I'll never do this story justice. But, Michael and I will have it locked in our memories!
Tonight, we were able to get out and do a walk around the neighborhood and country club as a family. Usually, we are cramped for time (for whatever reason) or it is too darn cold. But tonight, we finished dinner and weren't quite ready to do homework, so we headed out for the walk we've been doing as a family since the boys were babies!
Off they went on their own, leading the way. Picking up dirt clots, sliding in grass, and talking about odd stuff. (Nicholas asked Jacob if he thought that he was born brave. Jacob gave him a big speel about how we are all born different and have different qualities....ahhh, he is SO my politician--never is he at a loss for words)
Michael and I were hanging back and reminicing about the days of the double stroller. We used to take this walk because we couldn't bear to be stuck in the house with needy babies for one more moment. The stroller was a sure fire way to get Nicholas to simmer down. We were strolling along this path that has river rock and talking about how we used to always have to stop and give each boy a rock because they would scream "WOCK, WOCK". You get the idea.
We look up and Nicholas is having to hold his pants up and his pockets are bulging....seriously packed. He is running, holding up his pants and all jiggled up because his pants pockets are full of river rock! Not to mention, there was a twig hanging out one side and two golf balls in the other. He walked the rest of the way home with his pants like that. He always has plumber butt anyway, but this was priceless!
We get up to the road and there is a huge piece of asphalt chipped off. Yep...he needs that. He lugged that piece of rock most of the way home. Finally after about half a mile, they decided that they wanted to see it explode, so he threw it down. This was happening behind us. We here some clapping of the hands to get the dirt off and then spitting. We ignored it.
Jacob says, "Did it work?"
Daddy says, "Did what work?"
Nicholas "Oh yeah, I spit on my hands to wash 'em". His shirt was the proof. Gross.
But once again, priceless memories!
